Blue Spring Ride (2/20/20)


 


       For this week, I decided to read the first volume of Blue Spring Ride. Simply looking at the first few panels it shows that it is a shoujo manga. In a majority of cases, shoujo manga/ anime have very little to no violence or fighting. Instead, it tends to be more romance based and this manga is no different. The first page alone suggests that the main character has a crush on a male character which puts this manga in the shoujo category. Shoujo manga/anime also tend to follow the story of a female character, though that is not always the case 100% of the time. I was only able to read the first volume of this manga but so far the ideals for the female character is a guy who is "not violent and doesn't have as deep of a voice as other males." The main character also seems to like him because he is "more down to earth, humble and sensitive." I decided to pick this manga because the characters looked familiar. I haven't read this particular manga before or seen the anime if there is one. But I believe I have seen the main female character and male character before at some point.

Silver Spoon (4/15/20)

 I have actually never heard of this manga before. I feel like most of the time I'll at least recognize the name but in this case, I didn't. I even tried to ignore the summary of this manga series. In general, I pick a manga that I have either watched the anime of or one that knows the anime isn't good. In this case, it's neither but it did seem like an interesting read. Despite it being the manga to read for this week. I was only able to read a few chapters but so far it seems pretty comedic and random. Simply going off the title I had no guess what this manga could possibly be about. However, once I started actually getting into it, I became absorbed with its humor. In just a few short chapters I have read, the series seems to be a light-hearted comedy that I plan on adding to my 'to-read list".
